*Job Description: A peer support specialist is someone with lived experience of having a behavioral health diagnosis that can demonstrate self-directed recovery. This position contributes to a peer support capacity to facilitate recovery and enhance wellness, serving as a role model of recovery for staff and consumers. The position supports individuals using services to develop self-help skills, provides practical support to access and utilize community support networks, and educates people about the range of available services in and beyond the agency. Assists in the recovery of mental illness by providing independent living, coordination, employment-related, and housing-related services to enable the individual to reside in the community to and avoid more restrictive levels of treatment; participate as member of peers interdisciplinary team; complete all Center-required documentation in Agency clinical software system. *Education: Requires High School Diploma or High School equivalency certificate issued in accordance with the law of the issuing state. *Experience: Lived experience with mental health diagnosis. Preference to those already certified as peer support specialists. *Hours of Work: Generally, MondayFriday 8am-5pm; adjustments in work hours warranted to meet the needs of the program. *Licenses/Certifications: Valid drivers license and must be insurable by Agency insurance.Must successfully complete Illness Management and Recovery training.
