Converse County LibraryDouglas is seeking a part time employee who is a responsible, hard-working, and detail-oriented individual to clean our beautiful library building.

Janitors will be responsible for cleaning and sanitizing all areas of the library buildings. Preference will be given to applicants possessing prior janitorial experience. Candidate must have experience with cleaning

materials and PPE. Must be willing and able to work late evening or early morning shifts. Ideal candidate is flexible and willing to take on non-routine cleaning and special projects as the need arises.

Regularly scheduled hours will not exceed 19 hours per week. Employees will be enrolled in Wyoming retirement plan and automatic payroll deposit.

General Summary

Provides janitorial services for all areas of the Library, including offices, restrooms, vestibules, meeting rooms, stairwells, and common areas. Janitor will perform daily cleaning outside of library operating hours. Weekly, monthly, and annual cleaning are also to be performed outside of library hours, when possible.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for cleaning buildings, removing debris, and keeping areas neat and tidy. Performs cleaning duties including (but not necessarily Must have experience with cleaning materials and PPE or be willing to seek training limited to) those outlined in cleaning schedule.

  • Works with Library to establish schedule, working around library operating hours, room reservations, and holiday schedules

  • Demonstrates competency in using library-owned cleaning equipment.

  • Abides by all building regulations and safety rules (site is under video surveillance).

  • Maintains a daily logbook recording any events requiring Library attention.

  • Alerts Library of any maintenance conditions including leaky faucets, stopped toilets and drains, broken fixtures, burned out lights, etc.

  • Monitors supply stock and alerts Library if anything needs to be replenished (toilet paper, paper towels, hand soap, trashcan liners, light bulbs, filters, cleaning supplies, etc.).

  • Keeps any nonpublic personal information encountered while performing services confidential. Shall not disturb paper/objects on desks, open drawers or cabinets, or use telephones, computers, monitors, or other office equipment.

  • Keeps library locked during cleaning and does not admit others. Is responsible for securing the premises upon completion of cleaning. Turns off non-emergency lights and leaves the building neat and orderly

  • Will keep all cleaning materials and equipment storage areas in a neat and orderly condition.

Job Requirements and Qualifications

  • 2+ years janitorial experience preferable.
  • High school diploma/GED required
  • Willingness to work late night or early morning shifts
  • Ability to work well under minimal supervision
  • Capacity to take direction

  • Tasks may require standing for extended periods of time; bending at the waist; kneeling or crouching; hearing and speaking to exchange

    information; carrying, pushing, or pulling; lifting heavy objects

  • Regularly works with equipment and performs procedures where carelessness may result in minor cuts, bruises, or muscle strains

  • Requires attention to detail
