Farmingdale State College Administrative Assistant 2 (Grade 15) - School of Engineering in Farmingdale, New York

The Dean's office of the School of Engineering seeks an Administrative Assistant 2. The job responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist in coordinating ongoing and special projects within the organizational unit.

  • Handles telephone calls, coordinates and arranges meetings.

  • He/she will handle all incoming and outgoing correspondence, gather data and draft responses where appropriate.

  • Maintain the organization calendar.

  • Monitor all budgets and accounts within the area.

  • Handle purchasing requisitions.

  • Make travel arrangements.

  • Maintain office records and files.

  • Take minutes of meetings when appropriate.

  • The incumbent must be able to work independently and use own judgment to handle administrative tasks.

    Job Requirements:

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • As per Civil Service. Hiring procedures in accordance with NYS Civil Service Law. Must be reachable on the Administrative Assistant 2 Civil Service list or be eligible for 70.1 transfer. See below.

ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Knowledge of computer software programs (Outlook, Excel, Word).

  • Familiarity with SCT BANNER preferred.

  • A willingness to learn new computer programs.

  • Strong communication skills.

  • Organized and detail oriented.

Transfers from other New York State agencies are welcome to apply.

To be eligible for transfer pursuant to Civil Service Law Section 70.1:

  1. Nominees must have served permanently in an appropriate title or titles for one year, and

    1. the titles must be within two salary grades, and

    2. nominees must possess any required special credentials, and

    3. consecutive transfers cannot result in more than a two-salary grade advancement.

Additional Information:

  • Hiring procedures in accordance with NYS Civil Service Law.

  • Grade 15 Salary (starting March 28, 2024): $58,046 + $3,400 location pay = $61,446 Total Annual Compensation
