About the position:

We’re looking for a Director of New Product Development (NPD). The Director of New Product Development (NPD) Engineering is responsible for overall leadership, development, and delivery of high-quality products for Raymond material handling equipment. The selected individual will provide leadership in the areas of Automation, Energy products, Telematics products, as well as foundational lift truck development. This role manages and leads R&D and technical programs which result in new and/or improved products, increased output and/or reduced costs.

We are seeking a visionary leader with the right balance of creativity, initiative, and drive to move solutions quickly from concept to realization. This role will require you to actively collaborate with Toyota Material Handling’s world-class technical staff to solve challenging problems. In this role, you will:

  • Coordinate and lead a multi-disciplinary team of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, software, and systems technical resources.
  • Work closely with Executive Management to support development of the strategic technology plan and corporate goals/objectives related to new product development.
  • Lead the team through the entire product development lifecycle.
  • Guide and coach the team through adoption and transitional phases of platform development, design practice, risk analysis (technical and commercial), testing and validation, performance trade-off studies, cost studies, supplier selections, and engineering process development.
  • Collaborate with outside partners to gain access to technology solutions for further development and commercialization.
  • Recruit, develop, and retain a world class development engineering organization.
  • Instill overall accountability by setting expectations, putting in place robust team management disciplines, and providing direct and timely feedback.
  • Manage staffing levels to match budgets and meet the approved new product development roadmap needs.
  • Foster and generate advanced intellectual property, positioning Raymond Corporation to continue our history of technical leadership in all aspects of material handling.
  • Interface with Toyota Industries global members in working groups and other collaboration sessions.

About you:

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical, Mechanical, or Systems Engineering.
  • 15+ Years of engineering experience with at least 8 of those years in technical management.
  • A background in research and/or product development, leading to successful product introductions.
  • Knowledge of research and development design methodologies, experience bringing concepts to fruition, experience vetting multiple vendor options to develop solutions.
  • Strong analytical, interpersonal, presentation and organizational skills.
  • Excellent teamwork skills with ability to influence cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, both tactical and strategic, to drive the team’s continuous improvement.
  • Experience managing projects with multiple dependencies.
  • Self-starter able to manage vision and purpose, results oriented.
  • In-depth leadership skills, both tactical and strategic driving the team to continually improve.
  • Ability to handle complex multi-task environments and successfully lead technical development teams.
  • Demonstrate and apply comprehensive/in-depth knowledge of engineering management, technology development, process development.

It would be great if you had:

  • Masters of Science or PhD in Computer, Electrical, Mechanical, Systems Engineering or Computer Science.
  • Experience in automation systems, AGVs, advanced systems integration, telematics.
  • Experience in energy storage design, development, manufacturing.

About the total compensation package:

Salary - $144,500 - $185,000 per year. Compensation depends on the selected candidate’s education and experience.

Relocation – This position may qualify for relocation.
